ArtBeat - October 18th, 2013

ArtBeat presented by Target returned with Ruth Moody! A member of folk darlings The Wailin’ Jennys. The singer/songwriter Ruth Moody tours in support of her second solo album, “These Wilder Things.”

And, as usual. We are featuring two great crafters that participated at this event. Their items are amazing and that's why we want to introduce them to you! Their items make perfect gifts for the coming holiday season.

First, we have Sabrina Graves ...

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a former dance teacher/choreographer. Currently I stay home working on accessories and caring for my kids. My husband serves in the Air force so we never know where like will take us.

What do you make?
Hair accessories, jewelry and wipe clutches.

Do you have an online shop?
Yes, I do.
Etsy Shop (1): Brina Babe
Etsy Shop (2): Brina Babe Boutique

Apart from creating things, what do you do?
I enjoy all types of crafting. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling.

Where does your inspiration come from?
I started making hair accessories when I had a baby girl 10 years ago. I created things for her and a few friends. Four years ago a back injury kept me in bed for a long period of time. I started making large quantities to keep myself sane.

What does handmade mean to you?
Handmade means create with love by an actual person.

Who has been most influential in your crafts?
My daughters have been a huge inspiration. My style evolves as they do.

Last, but not least. We have DebyAnn!

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm a stay at home mom of two teen boys. Been married for 16 years this November. LOVE crafting, sewing, riding my bike, reading when I get a chance.

What do you make?
I make duck take rings, earrings, flower pens, mechanical pencils and pens (covered with duck tape).

Apart from creating things, what do you do?
Raise my boys the best I can. I try to be a good wife and mother while suffering with Fibromyalgia and spinal cord compression for which I'm having surgery before the years end. Being in chronic pain and fatigue, it takes all I have to face each day, but with my crafting I'm able to cope.

Where does your inspiration come from?
Whatever peaks my interest and isn't too complicated.

What does handmade mean to you?
Making things by hand and with love.

Who has been most influential in your crafts?
God and the gifts (skills) He's given me.

Here are some of the pics from the Event.
