ArtBeat - May 3rd, 2013

This was our second ArtBeat of the Spring Season. And Mighty Mo Rodgers was there to play the blues!

He took the time to sign some autographsfor his fans.

Are you ready to meet our featured craft artists? I know you are, so let's get to know them. As always, we have two amazing craft artists. The first one is Shannon Nestelberger. Here is what she shared with us.

Tell us about yourself.
Hi. I'm Shannon. I tend to look for ways to do things and make things that bring a smile or a little encouragement. Probably because I need uplifting reminders in my own life. I've dent with a lot of hardship and have overcome with the words of others.

What do you make?
I make inspirational art, ornaments, magnets. I also sew a bit and crochet.

Do you have an online shop?
Yes, I do. My online shop is www.eternitee.etsy.com

Apart from creating things, what do you do?
I am a wife of 33 years, 4 kids and 3 grandchildren. All love of my life! I love to read historical fiction, I love people's stories {everyone has one!}.
I also work as a blackjack dealer and supervisor on the Las Vegas strip. Always fascinating!

Where does your inspiration come from?
All around me. Nature, friends, family, the Bible, colorful clothing, music, books, flowers, trees. My mind is always looking for inspiring things.

What does handmade mean to you?
Handmade is taking some raw materials and turning them into something that didn't exist before you work your craft. Whatever it is. Handcrafters are creative, interesting people doing the unusual with the ordinary.

Who has been most influential in your crafts?
My 2 grown daughters have been my best cheerleaders. They encourage me to just dive in and go for it. Not everyone will like what I do and that's OK. They teach me to enjoy the journey. They are very creative too, so I am blessed to have them in my life.

Next, we have an incredibly talented jewelry maker. Her pieces are beautiful! Her name is Kate Cluer. Let's meet her.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm originally from Oregon, but moved here after collage 10 years ago.

What do you make?
I make fabric button jewelry and accessories.

Do you have an online shop?
Yes, on Etsy and Facebook

Apart from creating things, what do you do?
I'm a stay at home mom to two beautiful children, ages 1 and 3. Most of my time is spent chasing after them!

Where does your inspiration comes from?
I take inspiration from the liberty of London fabric line. I have always loved working with colors and design as I was an interior designer prior to having kids. Creating is my outlet!

What does handmade mean to you?
Handmade is special because someone took their time and creativity to make something. I think something handmade has that extra special touch from something you buy at a regular retail store.

Who has been most influential in your crafts?
Probably my mom. She has always been crafty, so I was around it all growing up.

And, as always here are some pics of the rest of the amazing crafter crowd!

Our next event will be on May 31st. We hope to see you there and support our crafters buying handmade!
